Practical apps for the things people care about.
Odd Syntax Studios is an independent software company in Ohio. We make focused apps that each do one job well, for hobbies, communities, and the work behind them. Our first is CatchYak AI, a fishing guide built for kayaks.

Our first app: CatchYak AI
Most fishing apps are written for people with a bass boat and a big outboard. A kayak is different. Wind matters more, range is shorter, and the question isn’t only where the fish are but whether it’s smart to launch at all.
CatchYak AI reads the weather, wind, and conditions at your lake and turns them into a plan you can paddle: when to launch, where to go first, what to tie on, how to position the kayak, and when to head in.
Currently in beta on iPhone. Coming to the App Store and Google Play.
What’s next
Our next app is a scheduling tool for church production and worship teams. It will build the weekly schedule for the worship band and production crew automatically, working around each person’s availability, so coordinators spend less time on spreadsheets and group texts.
In development.
How we work
- Private by default
- We keep what we can on your device. In CatchYak AI, catches, photos, kayak profiles, and saved plans are stored on your phone. There’s no account to create and no profile on our servers.
- Tools that support judgment
- Our apps inform your decisions; they never replace them. In CatchYak AI, every plan starts with whether conditions are reasonable for a small craft.
- Tested by the people they’re for
- We build in the open with the people each app serves, like the kayak anglers who use CatchYak AI on real lakes and tell us what works and what doesn’t.
- Small and answerable
- When you write to us, the person who reads it is the person who builds the app.
The company
Odd Syntax Studios LLC is a limited liability company organized in the State of Ohio. We publish our apps under that name on the Apple App Store and Google Play.
